Start veggies from seed

Start 6 different tomatoes plants, 6 pepper plants and a few carrots, lettuce and peas. All from seeds. Save money on buying plants and reuse milk cartons and newspaper.

Also you will learn how to transplant and care for your veggies when they get bigger.

I’ll provide the seeds, potting soil and labels, you provide 2 half gallon paper milk cartons.

Teacher's Notes

I have been raising vegetables for years and years. I’m Master Gardener and Master Composter.

It would help if I could find an outdoor location near Redwood City. Maybe using a picnic area at a city park.

Vicky – thanks for the great class! Photos and a quick blog write up can be found here: http://unclass.es/16×6

Look forward to the next one in the city; hopefully we’ll have some seedling to show by then.

Go ahead and bring any small (not tiny) pots you have.
If they are used, rinse them out. 6 packs and 4" are good.

awesome! if anyone needs a ride from sf, send me an email rahmin@unclasses.org or txt 415.336.6389.

could we bring regular pots (or something else?) instead of milk cartons? otherwise, time to get drinking ;)

Class details:
Picnic Area behind the Community Activities Building
1400 Roosevelt Redwood City
My cellphone# is 650 208-8510
Park in the parking lot and go around the building on the left side. There is a big covered picnic area back there. We
will only need one table.
Bring your milk cartons and something to hold small pots made of newspaper. A tray or cardboard box is fine.

I am going to check out parks in Redwood City today. I will send an announcement as soon as it is final. This class will be free. Just bring 1/2 gallon milk paper cartons.

It is in the Bay Area. Redwood City is halfway between SF and SJ.
